Chairperson's Welcome Message

 To my fellow colleagues in engineering, geoscience, operations, production, commercial and all other corporate services, I would like to extend a personal invitation to participate in the SPETT 2012 Energy Conference & Exhibition. This symposium will occur from June 11th to the 13th 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port of Spain, Trinidad and will feature a spectacular view of the Gulf of Paria and Caribbean style hospitality, indigenous to our Country. This is indisputably one of the most important professional forums in Trinidad and Tobago and by extension the Caribbean and Latin America regions.  Topics will encompass the entire value chain, from molecules to market, through multi-disciplinary debates to address current and long term issues and challenges facing the E&P oil and gas industry. The theme of the conference is suitably titled, “Developing Resources for Sustainability”.

This will be the second conference and exhibition of this nature hosted by SPETT, with the first held in 2010.  For the Conference, we endeavor to maintain the high standard of technical content that has preceded us, whilst fostering an environment for knowledge transfer, policy development, networking, new ventures and maybe even catching up with long-time employers, clients and colleagues.

Our Exhibition aims to showcase the latest products, equipment, services and technology offered by service providers in the Industry.  I encourage you to take this opportunity to enhance, expand or even start your own business and to broaden your technical knowledge.

We envisage that as the industry recovers from recent economic and other challenges, 2012 will be a spring board to growth and investment opportunities in E&P, both in conventional and non-conventional areas.  It is therefore a favorable time to participate in these forums which will stimulate pertinent discussions and generate innovative ideas.
